Walmart Beauty Box Review for Spring 2019

In this post, I am going to share my Walmart Beauty Box review for the Spring 2019 edition of this subscription. I’ve written a more detailed post about the Walmart Beauty subscription so if you have more specific questions that I don’t answer, I’d suggest you read that post.

The Walmart Beauty Box is a free seasonal subscription that isn’t really free because you have to pay $5 for shipping.

I pay for this subscription with my own money. None of the links in this post are affiliate links. I don’t get anything in return for referring you to this subscription or the products included. I am sharing it with you simply because I want to. You can read more about the Try All The Stuff review policy here.

Walmart Beauty Box Unboxing for Spring 2019

As you will see in this Walmart Beauty Box unboxing video, this season they included a metallic makeup bag with little raindrops but only 6 samples. The Winter 2018 box did not include a makeup bag, but it did include 8 samples. I prefer more samples over a makeup bag because how many do I really need?

I love posting quick unboxing videos like this of my various subscriptions over on Instagram. So if you’re into that sorta thing, be sure to follow @tryallthestuff on Instagram.

Walmart Beauty Box Review for Spring 2019

Here’s what was in this season’s box:

Curel Hydratherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer

Full size price: $10.94
Full size amount: 12 fl oz

  • No added fragrance
  • Granted the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance & National Psoriasis Foundation Seal of Approval
  • Formulated with Advanced Ceramide Complex, Shea Butter, Pro-Vitamin B5 & Eucalyptus Leaf Extract
  • A moisturizer ideal for dry to extra dry skin
  • Water activated formula meant to be applied after your shower, but BEFORE you dry off

At first I thought this was a straight-up gimmick with the sole purpose of throwing me for a loop. I have dry skin and have been applying lotion after I dry off for over 2 decades so this was going to be a hard habit to break. So I tried it anyway and found that it really did work. What I found is that I used less of this lotion on my wet skin than I typically apply on my dry skin.

I posted about it on Instagram and asked, “Why switch up the order of an ingrained routine?” And to my surprise Curel replied with more than an emoji, they actually gave me a thorough explanation which I really appreciate.

Here’s what they said, “Great question! Your skin has the most moisture immediately after showering. If you wait even 2 min post shower your skin has lost 50% of the moisture it gained during the shower. Curél Hydra Therapy takes advantage of the peak moisture moment and it uses the water on wet skin the penetrate deeper into the skin’s surface (your skin cells expand when wet providing a pathway for the moisture) than applying lotion on dried off skin. We know it’s a habit change, but it’s truly the best way to moisturize for maximum hydration!

I replied, “Thank you for the explanation. It makes a lot of sense. Can I use any lotion to apply when wet or does this one have a super special formula?”

To which they answered, “Of course! The Curél Hydra Therapy formula was developed specifically to work with the water on your skin. Other lotions generally don’t mix well with the water and aren’t able to absorb into the skin as easily.”

All that to say, it worked and there was a very good reason why it did. My only issue with it is that it contains parabens.

Where to buy

Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream

Full size price: $13.43
Full size amount: 0.5 fl oz

  • Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Pro-Vitamin Complex and Licorice Extract
  • Hypoallergenic and non-irritating for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
  • Hydrating eye gel-cream that is supposed to lock in moisture
  • Supposed to brighten and smooth the under-eye area for a well-rested look

I got this in last season’s box. I loved it and went out and bought the full-size product, but I don’t need a duplicate sample. The purpose of getting subscription boxes is to try new things. If I continue to get repeats, whether I like them or not, I might cancel.

Where to buy

Soo’AE Unicorn Glow Hologram Mask

Full size price: $2.50

  • Double-sided
  • Cruelty-free and never tested on animals
  • Charcoal infused sheet mask meant to detox and brighten skin

I love sheet masks. This one what thick and heavy because of that weird foil that was supposed to be holographic. It didn’t appear to be holographic or iridescent to me, it just weighed down the mask. I won’t be buying this one again.

Where to buy

Olay Daily Facials Hydrating Clean

Full size price: $11.57
Full size amount: 66 dry cloths

  • Great for on the go
  • Dry cleansing cloths that are activated with water and meant to clean, smooth and hydrate skin
  • Cleanser, toner, exfoliator, hydrator and makeup remover in one

Makeup or cleansing clothes aren’t my preferred way of washing my face, so I am saving this sample for when I travel or go camping.

This product contains parabens.

Where to buy

Pantene Intense Rescue Shots

Full size price: $4.97
Full size amount: 0.5 fl oz (Pack of 3)

  • Single dose ampoule
  • Reparative treatment for color and heat treated hair in just one minute

I still haven’t gotten around to using because, for some reason, I thought I had to apply heat to my hair while I used it. From what I can tell on the website, you don’t have to do that. This is supposed to be Pantene’s most potent hair treatment, so I will be using it soon.

Where to buy

Garnier SkinActive Soothing 3-In-1 Moisturizer Day / Night Mask

Full size price: $4.97
Full size amount: 0.5 fl oz (Pack of 3)

  • No mineral oil, parabens, silicones, or dyes
  • 96% naturally derived ingredients

I still haven’t gotten around to use this. In fact, I think it’s still in my big box of samples. I should pull it out and use it cause I like the naturally derived ingredients.

Is the Walmart Beauty Box worth it?

I still think that the Walmart Beauty Box is worth it even if I didn’t try everything yet. As I mentioned previously, this is only the second box so I’ll determine whether or not to keep this subscription after the next couple boxes.
