In this post, I’ll share my Lip Monthly review for January 2019. Lip Monthly (referral link) is a – you guessed it – monthly subscription featuring various lip products like lipstick, balm, gloss, and more. Each month you will receive a very small makeup bag that corresponds to that month’s theme and about 4 lip products. The price is $12.95 and has a supposed value of $40-$80 per month.

Lip Monthly Unboxing Video

As you’ll see in the video above, I like to share color swatches and the texture of the various items I get in all of my subscriptions. If you’re into that sorta thing, you should definitely follow me on Instagram.

What’s included in the Lip Monthy subscription?

As you saw in the video above, every month you will receive an assortment of 4-5 lip products and a small, on-theme makeup bag. Each bag also comes with a card with more information about the products included in the month’s bag.

Here’s a closer look at what’s in this month’s bag:

A small postcard is included with more details about the theme and more importantly, the items inside.

Cougar Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick

I just don’t need another red lipstick and the packaging felt cheap. It applied smoothly though so perhaps I would have liked it if it were in a different color. I don’t think I’ll ever know because I wasn’t able to find any lipstick on the brand’s website. So don’t think this lipstick is available anymore.

Doucce Cosmetics Relentless Matte Lip Crayon in Winterberry

Price: $22

  • Easy to apply
  • A pigmented, matte lip color that applies smoothly

I got this exact lip crayon (same color) in this month’s Allure Beauty box. I am sure this was not intentional, but it is annoying. This applied smoothly, but again, I don’t need any more red lip products. Nor do I need 2 red lip products in the same subscription.

Where to buy

Manna Kadar Miracle Balm

Price: $19

  • Miracle Balm hydrates your lips and cuticles with Argan Oil and Vitamins A and E.
  • This product contains parabens

I use this balm sometimes and it leaves an unflattering thick, white cast to my lips, so I mostly wear this at night. I won’t be repurchasing this.

Where to buy

Hola Neon Liquid Lipstick

Price: $17

  • Matte liquid lipstick

I was most excited about this lip product because of the color even though I don’t like matte lip stuff. Turns out this was such a huge disappointment. I mean, It. Was. Bad!

This made my lips stuck together like no other lip product has before. I do not recommend at all.

Is the Lip Monthly subscription worth it?

No, I don’t think that Lip Monthly is worth the price at all. Of the four products I was sent, I will only use the miracle lip balm on occasion. And that’s only because I have it, not because I like it. It wasn’t something that I would pay for full-price, so the value just wasn’t there for me.

January 2019 was the third month that I had this subscription. I liked the November 2018 bag, but not the December 2018 bag. I disliked 2 out of 3 of the bags, so I canceled this subscription.

I’d love to know what you think of this Lip Monthly review for January 2019, so let me know in the comments below.
